>many of our generation are unemployed due to the economic downturn. This includes a large number of engineers (from all majors). Many of us are still looking for work nearly 2yrs out from our undergrad. To be blunt, we "stuck with it" and have nothing to show for it outside of our insurmountable debts and the dwindling employment opportunities. Coupled w/ this, we now hear of companies like Intel actively sponsoring/recruiting students who are not legal citizens to apply for internships/full-time positions. How does Intel or Facebook honestly expect US engineering students to compete for these positions if we cannot even get our foot in the door?

>With the dismantling of the shuttle program, the gutting of the planetary sciences portion of the FY2013 budget, and the seemingly unclear future of NASA's manned program, what can we, as students, look to for inspiration and excitement?

Right fucking on gentleman, engineers are treated like shit, this event is an insult considering the same people who host it don't really give a fuck about us.
