Got my lab back and got a failing mark.
it was from my electromagnetism course.
The lab was to get some readings/data from the machines/motors. Then crunch some numbers.

All my calculations were wrong to him since I didn't show the "x" for multiplication rather than what I been using since year one of this undergrad which is the bullet symbol.

He said he has never seen that symbol in his life being represented has multiplication so he didn't know how I was getting i.e 2πfL 2π90hz*120mH=67.88.

There were more complex calculations but I don't know how to use the jmath scripts

regrading, talk to head of department, blah blah shit sux bro

>using dot product for multiplying two numbers together

That's ambiguous as shit. only use dot product for symbols and letters and expressions.

wat? how is it ambiguous? all my math professors use it for numbers.

There were more than just a few numbers in our lab calculation. Its calculus than just adding numbers up.

Some people also got there labs marked wrong side the said he didn't know if it was an X or a multiplication. He said the 'x' was not floating over the line margin. So he could basically be interpreted as anything. And the answer could of just be chance/probability

take it to his superior, ask if he agrees with the decision

Was the symbol the only fault? Or was your work otherwise a horrendous mess? Got a photo?

If the calculations are legit, and use of the dot was the major fault, listen to the other poster and talk to the department head. Because that shit's just silly.

Stuff like this happens it only gets worse in the workforce.

I'd slap my boss in the face if he ever came back to me with "These calculations are wrong" "Where is the multiplication symbol??!!"

I guess you can't use Windows OS Calculator then

let me guess...

Is he foreign?

Your teacher is a retard.
You go to a university that hires retards as teachers.
Your career prospects aren't looking good.

I know what he was basically saying I just wanted to cover his skin color.

It what he basically asked right?

If he's Welsh an old enough to be a prof, he may have understood a bullet to be a decimal as a kid. The UK decimal point used to be elevated above the baseline. Doesn't excuse his bullshit.

>> No.4446906

well your teacher is a retard, you should get full credit, assuming your work is right, i would not back down from this argument if i was you.

does he also use commas for decimal points too lol

I've never seen the dot operator used for anything else
