>Do a lab experiment for an engineering class
>Supposed to have a group of 4 people, only have 3 due to shortage of people. Whatever.
>We're supposed to write a 30+ page report complete with calculations and documentation of how our lab went and what our results were. Due in a month.
>Workload is split up into certain jobs each person has to do (calculations, reports, etc...)
>I send an e-mail out to my groupmates asking what job they would prefer
>No replies
>Next Friday, another lab we need to do.
>One of my groupmates drops the class, now down to two people.
>Talk to professor, we combine with another group of two to form a group of four people
>Send my new groupmates same email a day ago asking what job they would like to do
>Still no response from any of them...
>Report 1 is due in two weeks, report 2 is due in three weeks.
>We have zero progress and I don't even have their experimentation data.
>It's like I'm the only one that realizes that this is over 50% of our final grade in the class

Fuck the human race.

Next email should probably be to your professor, then.

I seriously feel like I'm about to have a panic attack over this. I heard one group talked to the professor about a terrible groupmate and the professor told them, "I'm going to see how you guys handle it. When you're working for a company, you're going to have to deal with your own problems."

>> No.4446117

No.

Do it on your own and don't put their names on the report. I remember me and another guy did that on a 20 page synchronous machines laboratory and the professor was just like "fair enough".

Don't go snitching like a little bitch.

>> No.4446119

Ditch the group, do it all yourself, inform your professor.

Do it.

>> No.4446121

Group projects are pointless.

>> No.4446125

There is only one possible solution that doesn't end in ruin.
Do it all yourself, while your lab mates take the credit from you.

I feel your pain, OP. Just do the report yourself and turn it in with only your name on it. Fuck people.

Do this, but first send an email to your group telling them that you are going to do it alone if they dont respond within 48 hours. then you can say that you tried to get them to work and informed them of your plans.

Why the fuck are you not speaking to these people in person?

Why the fuck do you not have any of your own work completed?

>> No.4446136

This project is hard as hell to do alone. I'll have to write and do pages upon pages of calculations. Even if there is one error in the calculation, he will count your whole report as a 0% and fail you. But I'll take all of this into consideration. I'll give them another day, and then I'll rain down the fires of hell.

>> No.4446145

OP, you can easily do 30+. Every semester we get these assignments where we in each course have to write around ten pages documenting and solving some problem, we have about a week to each course. Not much spare time for vidya though.

>Why the fuck are you not speaking to these people in person?

First of all they're in a different section of the class that is held in the afternoon. Secondly, why the hell should I? It's simple to just reply an email and then meet with each other at another time. But no, I'm not getting any response from them.

>Why the fuck do you not have any of your own work completed?

I can't do any work until I get their data. Seriously, I'm just fucking waiting on them.

Life is tough, deal with it, and do it. You will basically be the one who gets a lot out of it, while your team mates will get fucked.

hint: group work like this is literally engineered to provoke conflicts of this type. your prof is seeing how you'll cope

What data?

Are you prepared to handle this data? What do you expect the data to say? Make lists of potential data and explain what impact it would have on the final outcome of the project and what measures you can take to work with it.

And stop being a faggot that blames email for why he hasn't spoken to the people in his class.
