ENERGY IS MASS TIMES THE SPEED OF LIGHT SQUARED.

IT IS MASS MOVING REALLY REALLY REALLY FAST LIKE FASTER THAN POSSIBLE FAST.

>>4443411

NO TIME HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MASS BECAUSE TIME IS THE FOURTH DIRECTION AND WE ARE FALLING DOWN IN IT SORT OF BUT WE DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT TIME

>> No.4443428

Energy is a quantity that is conserved through time translation in sufficiently flat geometries. It is a description that gives information about several aspects of a system, including mass and capacity for motion.

As a little aside, energy and time are linked. Energy is to momentum as time is to space. If you think I'm spewing bullshit then you've never done any relativity.

Everything is static. We don't perceive it as such because we can't see in anything more than 3 dimensions. You five minutes ago, you right now, and you 5 minutes from now are all points in the fourth dimension, time. Every quark, electron, atom, molecule, life form, etc. follows a path from creation to destruction along a line in the fourth dimension.

Picture a universe run by a lazy god. The god has to get every object from its starting point at creation to its correct position on judgment day. He wants to do it in the way that takes the least amount of work on his part. Usually the slower he moves things around, the less work it takes. But if he slows down on one day, he has to speed up some other day, or he won't have everything in the right position when judgment day comes. So he adjusts his plan meticulously until he finds the sweet spot where the effect of speeding things up the one day and slowing things down on any other day precisely cancel each other out. In the final version which he implements, the extra work it would take to do a day's events in a day minus one second is the same for all days. It's a conserved quantity. And that conserved quantity we call energy.

>> No.4443967

>>4443502
Yeah, but dimensions are human conventions. There is no empirical way of separating width from length from height, we just convene to a system of coordinates which allows us to somehow describe events which take place in the "spacetime".
But these conventions don't exist independently in reality, much like mathematics. They are language-based conventions.
