For those of you who attend/have attended University of Michigan and majored in engineering, how is it there? I'm going this fall. Difficulty/what to expect/etc.?

I'm second year aero. It's mildly difficult. The biggest part is not slacking and letting homework build up. Expect some non white people, but honestly if the idea o fa non whitewashed community scares you you're not ready for the real world.

Learn coding. Like right now. Your first year you take a c++ class called ENGR 101 that's a bitch if you have no prior experience. Don't live in east quad. It's full of hipster douche bags. also avoid Fletcher and oxford dorms. Both are in the middle of nowhere. I recommend markley, bursely, or northwood apartments if you have a bit of extra cash.

Buy football season pass tickets. They're worth it. Just trust me. Even if you don't want to go to all the games, for the student price, you can sell two f the biggest tickets for the season and completely recoup your cost.

Avoid the frat in front of the union/west quad. ADP, or as we call it shady phi. People get raped there.

Take the 700 section of ENGR 100. It's also known as the blimp course. It's fun and not bullshit like a lot of the other ENGR 100 sections. Get to know north campus and the dude (the engineering library). You'll be spending a lot of time there

If you're in a more mechanical major, join a student project team. It's a fun change of pace that looks good on a resume. While we're at that, get training for the wilson center ASAP. It's a metalshop on north campus all the teams are based out of. it has all the nice things.
