Scientists at this conference took a time out from their usual business to address how scared shitless they are of being harassed or derided by powerful people who see their scientific inquiry as a threat. General science denial/ conspiracy thread.

This is not news. This is how its always been. When people are educated, they cannot be controlled easily by the powers that be, whether it is the religious institutions, financial institutions, or political institutions etc. From Galileo to the our scientific institutions, they were always harassed.

tl;dr Corporations need brainless consumers and uneducated white collar slaves. Governments need ill-informed constituents electing liars/crooks every fucking year.
