Hi /Sci/,
Posted this on /b/ an hour or so ago, got ~80 replies saying Plasma, then a raging argument about whether time is real or not, and whether fire is plasma or not.
I want neither of these, just what I asked:

When I was in year 7 (11/12 years old) our science teacher was explaining solids, liquids and gases to us.

Being the cocky faggot he was, he said he'd pay us £10 for each thing we could name which wasn't a solid, liquid or a gas.
We couldn't name abstract things like happiness or jealousy.

I was the smartest fag in our class, and the best I could come up with were 'time' and 'fire'. He said time wasn't real, it was invented by humans, and that fire is actually a gas.
Nobody got any cash off him.

If I could go back now (having just finished a chemistry degree), I'd clean him out.

I wanna know what you'd have said at the time
tl;dr, name things that aren't solid/liquid/gas to get money out of faggot science teacher

plasma

This. Your science teacher is mentally retarded. What was his name?

Plasma?

Is "length" real? Is "width" real? Is "height" real?

An electron.

Yes, faggot. They're spatial dimensions. The units, on the other hand, aren't.

>> No.4380305

Depends on your definition of "things." I assume it has to be an ensemble of particles otherwise you could list atoms and all of their constituent parts.

Bose-Einstein condensate. Muon beam, proton beam, electron beam, neutron beam, light,

Why didn't you slap your teacher for the faggot that he was.

I would've said some fucking jello

Why is this so hard to get across?

I would've said electricity or light.

your teacher sounds like some retard off the street.

Just some quick facts since I'm pretty sure most people are ignorant about this.

Phases and components are not the same thing, there is a difference between gas and vapor, it has to do with a set of critical conditions. You can have more than one phase coexisting at the same time.

Every thing follows the phase rule:

Light is a good one. Easy for a kid to think of, and a good answer.

>> No.4380605

Lightning. They are a plasma, but you should know about them as a kid.

>> No.4380614

fire is a weak plasma
