Definition 3b. of “gender” from the OED: “Psychol. and Sociol. (orig. U.S.). The state of being male or female as expressed by social or cultural distinctions and differences, rather than biological ones; the collective attributes or traits associated with a particular sex, or determined as a result of one's sex. Also: a (male or female) group characterized in this way.”

If it can be empirically demonstrated that the picture is in agreement with this or any other definition given by a reputable source, then yes, it is “scientifically accurate.”

Reality is always more nebulous than most people are willing to believe. In the grand scheme of things, very few things have single, necessary and sufficient determinants. There is more than just having the gene that its phenotype should be expressed. Genetics does determine behavior in part.

This bullshit post modernism is what liberal arts has become.
>The privileging of solid over fluid mechanics, and indeed the inability of science to deal with turbulent flow at all, she attributes to the association of fluidity with femininity. Whereas men have sex organs that protrude and become rigid, women have openings that leak menstrual blood and vaginal fluids. Although men, too, flow on occasion—when semen is emitted, for example—this aspect of their sexuality is not emphasized. It is the rigidity of the male organ that counts, not its complicity in fluid flow. These idealizations are reinscribed in mathematics, which conceives of fluids as laminated planes and other modified solid forms. In the same way that women are erased within masculinist theories and language, existing only as not-men, so fluids have been erased from science, existing only as not-solids. From this perspective it is no wonder that science has not been able to arrive at a successful model for turbulence. The problem of turbulent flow cannot be solved because the conceptions of fluids (and of women) have been formulated so as necessarily to leave unarticulated remainders.

This is why science and math get shunned so often. They think you have to be an emotionally-retarded autist to see any value in it.

>morals are not subjective

Yes they are. Every single social rule and national law is arbitrary.

>> No.4366073

OP, the short answer is no, it is not scientifically correct. The idea that there may be biological and sociological aspects to sex (in the general sense of the word) is correct. However, the message in the image is that gender is some sort of unrelated aspect that has nothing to do with sex. And that's what makes it incorrect.

This image, and the argument it represents, is used by transgendered people to validate their personal identity. They demand on the one hand that their own personal sexual identification is legitimate because it's how they feel. They claim sexual identity is fluid (true) and that they are simply on a different point on the line. They then demand that their sexual self-identification is the only thing that matters (false).

They at the same time claim that they can be somewhat male and somewhat female, and also that they are only male and only female, however they self-identify sexually.

>> No.4366076

>>4366073

The truth of the matter is that gender and (what they call) sex are simply different ways of understanding the whole sexual identity of a person. Sometimes it's better to understand sex as biology. Sometimes better as culture. However, these are not just deeply intertwined, they are the same thing, viewed from different angles. They cannot be separated without losing understanding of the whole.

Transsexuals basically demand that only one aspect of their sexual identity, their self-identification, matter. They claim that all other aspects of sex are to be ignored. It's an intellectually dishonest position. Unfortunately, many people with good intentions buy into this egalitarian fiction that anybody can be anything they want to be, reinforcing these absurd ideas. They even come up with a lot of legitimate-sounding ideas in order to shame people into accepting this narrow view of sex. With pretty much certainty, if you ever come across a transgendered person, they are indeed men, even if they claim to be women, and women, even if they claim to be men.

Men are born men and women are born women. If you think you are trapped in the wrong body, you are delusional.

Fixed. Really, though, I'm totally fine with gays, but gender is black and white. You are a woman or you are a man. Everything else is psychology or sociology.
Yes, you do have transgendered people, and persons who have genetic defects (immunity to testosterone) that can fuck around with this, but these have specifically defined categories. Gender isn't a spectrum, it's two main categories and then specific categories in between. Also, how one identifies with him/herself (or really however he/she thinks in general) cannot effect gender. ( and yes I'm goddamn using the right word, if you doubt me you can look up "effect" as a verb)

It depends on your definition.

Main Entry: gen·der
Pronunciation: \ˈjen-dər\
Function: noun
1 : sex 1
2 : the behavioral, cultural, or psychological traits typically associated with one sex

It's not just physical.

This is why I fucking hate trannies.

Mind you, I have no problem with gays or lesbians, but trannies with their "wrong body" bullshit is so goddamn enraging.

You are who you are, and that's fucking that. If you're a 5'5" tall asian man and want to be 7'5" black man, you don't go out and get "height & race reassignment" surgery.

You fucking deal with the cards life gave you.

How do I explain.

Short answer:

1. Physical Gender is male/female determined by body parts and physiological function. If you have a cock and balls that produces sperm, you are a dude.

2. The Concept of Gender/sexual orientation is a spectrum of expression determined by Chromosomes. You are a % gay and that is really determined genetically.

However, the most important part is that bottom right picture. That is wrong, and no one should EVER get the idea that it is right... or else.

Seriously, what non-genetic homosexuality implies is that an individual is not born homosexual. That it is a state of mind brought upon by the individual himself without any genetic disposition.

Which basically can be translated into by right-wing sources as...

"The faggot agenda is being pushed onto our great christian nation by the liberal gay atheist media minority machine"

Watch what you say. It may be wrong and it may be flammable. The stupidest ideas spread the quickest.

Exactly, through telekinesis.

you hate people who live their lives the way they want to?

how does it feel to be 12?
they are changing a part of themselves they don't like. they aren't whining or bitching about it. they are taking steps in order to achieve their desired appearance.

This is an extreme rarity. The vast majority of transgendereds have no gender ambiguity other than their own self-identification.

Also, those with sexually intermediate characteristics are called intersex, not transgendered.

How do I determine my gender?

>> No.4367777

You're slipping /sci/, why are you talking with these children, don't you now they all live in the world of subjectivity and emotion?Facts and cold hard logic are alien things to them because they choose to, because they hate the idea that some one can prove that a certain race is inferior, that a certain individual is not fit to occupy a privileged position in society. When you are a retarded leftist unwashed hippie the best (and only) thing you can do is blame it on somebody else and if they dare prove with facts and logic that you are wrong just call them aspies or autistic while still hypocritically claiming the high moral ground.

The picture is absolutely correct. If it were about sex, however it wouldn't be, but gender is by definition a part of your personal identity.
