so if you throw a baseball at 90mph into a portal then it will come out at 0mph and hit the ground?

mph is not a unit for velocity.
Velocity is measured in m/s.

m/s is the standard unit for velocity.
M/h is not, but it is still distance traveled/time consumed

so that means it's a unit describing the velocity of an object.

your statement is like saying that inch is not a length measuring unit just because meter is the standard unit

B IS THE CORRECT ANSWER

AND THE REASON FOR THIS IS BECAUSE IT WOULD PRODUCE THE BEST GAMEPLAY MECHANICS, WHICH IS THE GOD OF THE PORTAL WORLD, BEING A VIDEO GAME AND ALL.

>logical language

You mean a system where nothing matches to each other and is put at random intervals which units then differ from themselves (within the same system) as well as not being compatible with the rest of the world (and beyond, Nasa is metric. I remember when somebody did a HURRR MURKA and crashed a probe into mars for it) ?

No wonder you create portal threads thinking it's science, anything good on the big bang theory? You such a nerd?

mph !=unit of velocity
Which is false
>Velocity is measured in m/s.
m/s = unit of velocity
Which is true

And imperial is a coherent system, no less so than metric.

This has been discussed again and again.
In the Portal game it would be A.
In reality, if you consider portals would follow the usual law of physics (besides being fucking portals), it would be B, because regarding relative motions, the portal moving towards the cube at speed V is strictly equivalent to the cube moving towards the portal at speed V.

"Momentum, a function of mass and velocity, is conserved between portals. In layman's terms, speedy thing goes in, speedy thing comes out."
-GLaDOS

>> No.4347651

This is one of the reasons why portals are destroyed when the object they are placed upon moves.

The box would be smashed since there would be no red portal for it to go through.

Play portal 2 before talking about portal physics

>> No.4347688

Assuming the portal is a wormhole, there should be a real difference between shooting the cube through a portal (constant spacetime curvature with the object traveling through it, which gives B as in the game) and moving the portal toward the cube (geometry of spacetime changes such that the cube and the wormhole eventually coincide). I think a simple Galilean transform can't be used here, in which case the answer is A.
