Could you guys help me out real quick with a simple physics problem?

The fastest pitch measured left the pitcher's hand at a speed of 45.0 m/s. If the pitcher was in contact with the ball over a distance of 1.50m and produced constant acceleration (a) what acceleration did he give the ball and, (b) how much time did it take him to pitch it?

The answer should be 675 m/s^2 and 0.66 s, but I can't figure out how to get there!

I understand people making homework threads for undergrad work, but this is just depressing.

I'm not a science major.

after you get the acceleration the time is easy.

Don't worry about it, algebra is difficult for some people.

Thanks for the post, but could you elaborate a bit more?

v^2 = v0^2 + 2ax

solve for a and plug and there's your answer

then v = v0 + at

solve for t and plug and there's your other answer
