Quick question, got a book from my dad (University Physics by Benson) and encountering notation I didn't learn in school. What's | | mean?

Like |dv| = (v/r)|dr|? (Circular motion)

Or is it just something you stick around delta X to make it look neater?

You have to be kidding me. Just in case you aren't a troll it is an absolute value.

Thanks, and no not kidding. Not once seen it in my life and I did go through HS

You know what an absolute value is right?

I'm reading wikipedia as we speak

After a quick glance I gather that in this context it just means dv but always positive? So if v2-v1 = -x, the absolute value will be x?
