Physicist here. I use Windows because Mac OS is annoying to find software for, and because I'm too lazy to learn how to use Linux. Most researchers in the department run Linux.

There's a few Macs around, but nobody runs the Apple OS.

macs are fucking shit. i had to use them on several occasions and find them to be terrible.

i don't understand why people shell out the extra cash for such an inferior product. some try to justify it with a warranty, but my memory and gpu have a lifetime warranty, and the remaining parts between a 3 or 5 year warranty, so even after they break after those 3 or 5 years they will be outdated and prime for upgrades.
