How does one become good at maths?

>> No.4311915

study, some may have to study more than others

>> No.4311919

Practicing.
What did you expected?
Some shortcut?

Let me guess, you just watched Limitless, right?

>> No.4311925

by practicing. what the fuck are you expecting? you read and practice and practice and practice

>> No.4311939

Being good at math is completely genetic. You are either good at math or you aren't. Simple as that. You can't get better

Yes. Can you tell me the name of the drug used? I don't care if it's illegal.

I knew it.

NZT-48 it is fictional and very very unrealistic.
Your best shot is adderall if you want anything of that sort.

Since you're asking that question i assume you're low level, that means -> khanacademy.org, check the videos and the practice system.

Is this really true?
Is there even any point in me trying to major in mathematics?

I love it and I am decent at high school maths, but obviously uni math is a whole new playing field

No. I was average at math at high school, but I loved it, so I kept doing it at uni. I'm about to start my Ph.D. next year. Practise and discipline beats natural aptitude every time.

How often would you say people dropped out a math course during your undergrad?

>> No.4312374

>>4312148

I honestly don't know. The majority of my classmates that I hung around with continued to do their doctorate, but doing math is really a matter of finding the areas that you enjoy, and the areas that you're good at, and sticking with them. No point in doing mathematics that you hate, you'll just keep procrastinating and not practising.

Hard work, and self sacrifice, and bearing with your classmates/friends that you've met along the way drop out/give up/fail horribly, and hoping to have a different outcome yourself.

Also Wolfram Alpha. and the internet will help you be a step ahead (maybe)
