What's the point of gaining knowledge if you're just gonna die?

What's the point of this thread, if you don't expect to receive a satisfying answer?

>implying I'm not immortal

My genius knowledge made me overcome death.

>> No.4299570

gaining knowledge is not just an action in and of itself.
it's enjoyable to some to learn the intricacies of the universe that many will never know.
in some ways it's a superiority complex to know something that inferior minds couldn't comprehend.

shit, sometimes it's just to get money to put food on the table.

how would you act differently if you knew that you were going to live forever?

What's the point of not doing anything if whether you do it or not doesn't matter?

>>4299527
Why? That sounds like an explanation made up by a mind trying to justify its worth, not a derived reason

Humans work on the short term. we are driven by goals, be it an addiction or obsession. some are obsessed with love, others with fame, others with drugs, and others with science. Why does knowledge excite people? Some people are just built with a desire to organize and solve puzzles. Science gives a perfect field to do just that. Obviously, it's not for everyone.

Kill yourself and it'll all go away.

Meanwhile, I will sit here tweaked to hell and back having the time of my life and learning more in this sitting than I did all week.

What is a "point"?

>> No.4302412

Only real point in life is to reproduce life.
I think we're above that by now.

>> No.4302425

There isn't one, life is completely meaningless. That being said, there's no point to not learning either. I enjoy learning, so I learn.

Helps me overcome my boredom. I have no social skills or true interest in social interaction.
