/sci/, i am a biologist (durr no real science) and i can possibly land a job in a biosafety level 4 laboratory.

For those of you who don't know what biosafety level 4 is, it means that you get to work in spacesuits with deadly diseases for which there is no possible cure.
The entire laboratory is practically a metal box with equipment, sealed tight.

Now the work itself seems pretty interesting to me, but the rigorous training and terrible pressure seem a lot less appealing.

Are there any /sci/entists here who worked in biosafety level 4? What are your experiences?

do you work in biosafety levels higher than 1?

nope, sorry. (im a zoologist, still studying, not working yet)

OP, I'm a Biochemist with an 18 year career in Medical research. I've worked at BL3 for the most part, but I've had reason to carry out L4 research on rare occasions.

Ignoring my research, which has mainly looked at the role of a number of TLR's in the disease of interest (HTNV), the discipline in the sort of lab you are talking about is quite extraordinary and certainly requires a great deal of physical and mental conditioning.

I'd suggest that you try and ascertain specific detail of the working environment and make a judgement based upon your own previous experience at L2 and 3.

Without knowing you I can't really suggest a course of action, needless to say that much of what you have said is correct, although do bear in mind that there's a lot of mundane number crunching and less exciting procedural work to do to as well. (No offense to Micro/Biochem postgrads, but this is where many kick off their research career proper.)

Good luck.
