He talks about how the imperial system makes ambiguous associations to tangible objects, and then goes on to show how you can add a prefix to what was originally an ambiguous association to a tangible object and it suddenly isn't ambiguous anymore. We've since made these values based on universal constants but they still match the old ambiguous measurements.

I've always said: why didn't they redefine the length of the meter (call it something else to prevent confusion) to make the speed of light something less arbitrary than the 2.99e8 shit we have now. You fuckers like the number 10, why not have made it 1 trillion distance/second units?

Also even the metric system hasn't figured out a better way than a 24-60-60 way of dividing time, and there still isn't much consistency in using radians vs. degrees.

This comic is wrong. The metric system is not perfect, nor is it completely intuitive. It's just better because it would make for a consistent world.

In america we cast the failures down on the bottom rung of society where they belong. We dont take care of the losers. America is a country of winners. It does not bother me one bit that there are uninsured citizens in my country. I am proud to live in a place where I am free to be rich and free of their burden.

Anyone else ever notice that in America the largest unit of distance is the Football Field?

Seriously, every fucking time a documentary, magazine, newspaper, etc. talks about some large object, they'll always say "that's X football fields long!" It makes me want to murder all the idiots who actually need measurements put into sports terms because they were too retarded to do competently in school but they're fucking experts when it comes to FUTBAWL.
