I'm sure you guys here at /sci/ receive enough questions about which major is better and this-and-that. However, I'm simply looking for you all's opinion whether or not it would be wise for me to major in physics, graduate and then obtain a career dealing with computer science or engineering. Because I've heard of physics as a kind of "Swiss Army Knife" major of sorts.

P.S I also aspire to eventually work with environmental technologies, so should I just major in mechanical engineering or environmental engineering?

>environmental engineering
chaining yourself to a tree would look better on a resume than a degree.

Any idiot can teach himself CS. If you know you want something with Engineering, do at least Engineering Physics and get a good overview/foundation of mechE/EE/CompE/etc with your electives for the major.

>"Swiss Army Knife" major

Only after they get experience with heavy interdisciplinary (along with many possible fields) work after several years...

The whole "jack of all trades" approach only gives you a general overview of engineering and biology. You get very limited breadth and almost no depth. Biomedical is useless without a graduate degree.

I never got that tier list. Computer Science is basically math, and is used extensively in every one of the God Tier fields.

All these people majored in something worthless, some from no name schools. Besides where are you going to school, because an econ degree from Caltech will take you further than an engineering degree from Cal State Fullerton.
