I hate doing a homework question, and usually I would read a book, ask help ect but I am really confused with this question, I am NOT doing this as an easy way out, I been thinking about the question when Im in the shower ect and I still dont get the answer, maybe Im over thinking it...

In the final stage of the fall, the skydiver is falling through the air at a constant speed. The skydiver kinetic energy does not change even though there is a decrease in the gravitational potential energy. State what happens to this loss of gravitational energy.

Why is the skydiver falling at constant speed?

Why does a terminal velocity exist?

The chances of all the people in your class being retards is very unlikely, unless you go to a retard school or something.
Do you go to a retard school?

Why does the skydiver not continue accelerating until he reaches the ground?

>> No.4212881

>In the final stage of the fall, the skydiver is falling through the air at a constant speed

That speed is 0 because he already hit the ground. No change of gravitational energy anymoar.

friction with the air transforms the gravitational energy that you're losing all the time in heat.

When you reach terminal velocity, all the new energy is being consumed this way instead of increasing your cinetic energy.

The deceleration cause by air resistance is velocity dependent, so there comes a point at which the acceleration due to gravity is balanced by the deceleration due to air resistance.

If the air is decelerating an onject, where do you think the kinetic energy is going?
