Hey /sci/,

I need a hobby (because I spend all my free time doing nothing), and I've concluded that conventional hobbies like playing video games or drawing don't appeal to me. I want a hobby that pertains to science or mathematics, preferably a hard science. I can't think of anything besides reading from a textbook, which is fairly dull. Are there any engaging hobbies (like research or something) I can do?

OP here.

I guess I can learn from textbooks, but I already do that with school, so it just seemed like overkill.

Pick up a social hobby, OP, even if it's something horrifying like MtG or D&D.

Btw, who the fuck is the girl that EK keeps posting? Why does he keep posting images of her anyway?

read beyond your course materials and you will become uber powerful. if that doesn't appeal, might i recommend learning a programming language? although it requires some dense reading, you can learn most things through experimentation rather than reading about everything (once you've read a few basic concepts).

Go to the engineering section in the /sci/ guide and you will find some links to various DIY engineering projects. They are fun and very rewarding.

Get some borosilicate glassware!!! you can do anything with that stuff! You could make your own antihistamines or be really fancy and try to synthesise antibiotics or something... Then when you're older, you can make your own psychedelics and extract your own entheogens!

Get an Arduino and built something useful with it. A weather station would be a nice start.
