what does /sci/ think of math texts with no solutions key?

I'm generally talking about math beyond basic calculus, but calculus is alright too.

Positives? Negatives?

>> No.4162191

postive in highschool because, everybody just copies or works backwards
negative in college/uni because people GENERALLY care about understanding

but then why do lower level maths typically include solutions, while higher level maths have the opposite trend?

i also would like to find out the answer to that question
maybe something like 'you should be able to figure it out' or 'your prof will show you' or 'we like money and printing those extra pages would cost $0.02 x 2000'

Is that supposed to sound like hardy har har?

yep, from the simpsons if you can't tell

>> No.4162224

It's terrible. Odd numbers should always be answered except for proofs (and it's nice to at least have a proof sketch for those).

>> No.4162256

No one has the magical answer all these textbook authors are apparently keeping hidden?

>> No.4162300

Text would be 13 times larger and the author would give up before finishing
