Hello sci. High school senior here (18) who screwed around in school and got bad grades. I want to study the maths or computer science, but I'm not actually good at math, just because I never study. My parents want me to go to a liberal arts school to study, how bad is this?

Is it okay to study maths at a liberal arts school?

I got bad grades in math, but that's only because I never studied and tried, but I want try my hand.

Pic related, the kind of liberal arts school im looking at, and the level of school I'm looking at.

How does it feel to have parents that don't love you?

where else do I go though, bro?

all state schools/universities are either too hard to get into with my bad stats, or just pure shit.

not cause it's a bad school its not the worst mostly cause it sounds like a dumb version of uranus (your anus) and on regards to the original question math at a liberal arts college isn't as bad as actual liberal arts. I went to Rennssaeler Polytech

RPI is nice too. Thanks for the peace of mind.

Parents would never let me go to a CC for any amount of time. My entire family all graduated from top tier universities, including grandparents and everyone. It's just not possible.

But still, is math at Liberal Arts all that bad?

I live 10 minutes from there. My friend is a Math major there and hates it. He takes classes at UAlbany and transfers them whenever he can.

ursinus would be a decent enough name and their math program shouldn't be too intense easy enough to get A's the first 2 semesters as long as you take the right classes

Don't worry about what school you start out at. First of all, college is what you make out of it - study your ass off and learn as much as you can, and you'll be in much better shape than those people who go to school to party and get a 2.0 GPA and barely hang on for the next semester. It doesn't matter that you're going to go to a liberal arts school. It's all about the effort YOU put in; there are many resources for you to use and it's up to YOU to utilize your effort and intelligence.

The "name" of the school doesn't matter to a large extent. And really, if you do care that much about the school's name and prestige, then transfer out of your college after a hard-worked two years and the college you go to will probably accept your credits, you'll get a degree from the college you transferred to, and it'll be like you never went to Ursinis College.

Nevertheless, I just want to stress the importance of personal effort and competence. Some of the smaller schools can be just as challenging and engaging as the larger ones. It's all up to you, man. Fulfill your potential.

I don't really like the idea of transferring out. I'm just gonna try my hardest and see it through. The advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton.

thanks bro.

I push that to the back of my mind when I realize one of my friends graduated from Susquehanna and is now at UPenn for grad school.
