Is there a reason why seeing someone's smile makes you feel angry?

if you like them, seeing them smile makes you smile.
if you hate them and/or are jelly, then seeing them smile will piss you off i guess.

I've heard this cool thing where, in a shop in China, employees were forces to smile. Not like project a happy image, but literally smile all day. The vast majority suffered from depression before long.

When I read OP's post, I thought "that doesn't really happen to me". Then I saw your thumbnail and remembered that I shouldn't open it because it would make me rage.

It's not just in China. It happens in every public place where you have to interact with customers

Some people have issues with "Comparative Self-Worth"

You don't validate yourself by invalidating others. That is called a false equivalency.
[ie; Conjecture and pejoratives are unnecessary in communication, and only serve as an attempt to validate the speaker by invalidating the person that the comment is projected at... simply an attmept to create a false equivalent of comparisons to make the speaker look better.]
