Anyone here know how to start mining for misc semi or very valuable minerals / metals? such as granite, aluminium, copper, silver, gold, gemstones & various other things

I need tips like How deep certain metals are, what kind of terrain they are in, something I could do to either have fun or make real money.

I live about 25 miles north of Houston Texas

No faggot answers like MINING COMPANIES DERP, YOU'RE ONLY 1 PERSON DERP GIVE UP FAGGOT

pic related, it's lithium ore

I work in a geology lab with lots of people who do this.

Easiest way to profit is to spend $4500 on a nice metal detector and look for gold nuggets. This should only be a hobby; don't expect to find much unless you spend lots of time at it.

Chances of finding anything else that doesn't require tons of processing is very slim.

Any other metals / minerals that are interesting?

Sounds like you don't know dick about minerals.

Gold can be found on the goddamn surface within quartz matrices if you know what the fuck you're looking for.

Other minerals that are interesting:
Fluorite
Quartz (Especially scepter formations)
Azurite
Malachite

Damn dude I could go on for days; look at MinDat.org for lots of mineral data.

There's a fairly big mineral collecting industry. I think there is a large show in Houston too.

People can spend from $0.25 to several millions on single pieces.

I suggest you read a minerology book or two before spending any serious cash. You also should have the patience of a saint.

I know all about this kind of stuff OP.
I have a lifetime of experience and a couple degrees in it.

I work in mining, and I've hiked much of the West collecting rocks.

you aren't going to get rich.
all the commercial outcrops have been found, claimed, and mined for the most part.

what you're looking at is a hobby, and one you're in the wrong place to do really well. Head for Colorado or Arizona, buy some books on gem and mineral collecting areas there. You won't get rich doing it most likely, but it's the chance that keeps us looking.

There are hundreds of several ton boulders of granite where I live. I will sell them at $0.15/lb. to OP.

You could like, make counters out of them.

>> No.4122243

granite weighs 20lbs per square foot
granite counters usually weigh 300+ pounds

$45 bucks?

than sell it for 15x that for trolling consumers

This is actually a hobby of mine when I have free time - collecting crystals/cool minerals.
You'll want to look at mindat.org. It is the most comprehensive source on known mineral localities.
