At 100 light years, which is 9.4605284 × 10^17m, the speed would be 9.4605284 × 10^18m/s.

atoms are governed by the electromagnetic forces, therefore you'd se a "wave" of the material going close to the speed of light, and the other end will move oinly when the wave reaches the end of the object
