This is not a circle.

>> No.4074277

x^2 + y^2 = 1

but that is

>> No.4074276

Yup, it's not.

thats an equation

It's made out of little squares. If you trace the perimeter it won't be 2*pi*r

ur mums a circle cuz shes that fat !!!

stupid NEWFAG !

because the number of points between integers of a graph are infinite, a mathematical circle can be considered perfect.

No, that's a picture of a circle.

you sound like a homophobe. An Engineer only cares about the required precision. You obviously hate engineers.

It's a picture of two concentric circles: One white, the other black.

That is, in fact, a sentence.

the black one is a cylinder, not a circle.

You're right OP. It's a torus.

>> No.4074369

Interesting thread we have here.

>> No.4074370

My definition of a circle: a set of elements from R^2, where there exists an x in R^2, and an r in R, such that for every y in the circle, |x-y| = r

so it's not a circle, because the line is too thick. the points at one side of the line have a different distance from the middle than the points at the other side of the line.

>> No.4074373

>>4074370
What about r = 0?
Is that a circle?

>> No.4074383

>>4074299
it's a circle of squares.

SHIT. I mean sqrt(|x1 - y1|^2 + |x2 - y2|^2) = r

>>4074373
you mean a singleton is a circle? why not?

hmmm, now that I think about it more, it seems this isn't a correct definition after all. A half-circle is admitted as well. Never mind me then.

Sounds good, because it also works for non-euclidean metrics.
Say, taxicab: <span class="math">d(x,y) = |x_0+y_0| + |x_1+y_1| + ... + |x_n+y_n|
>> No.4074415

>>4074408
Shit, it should be <span class="math">|x_i-y_i|
, not +

I don't understand the logic behind your statement, OP. How is this not a circle?

>> No.4074475

Yup.

>> No.4074499

>>4074455

Because "This is not a circle." is not a circle.

>> No.4074742

It's not a circle, it's a polygonal approximation of a circle.

Pixels.
