To deal with more extreme temperatures, we swapped hair for sweat glands all over.
No hair is good in cold climates where the sun shines less, for advancing production of Vitamin D. Hair overheats in warm environments.

And if you haven't noticed, some humans can get pretty freaking hairy anyway.

NO. apes are our VERRRRY distant cousins NOT our ancestors we evolved from something similar to apes, that apes also evolved from. its like how you and your siblings are all related to your parents but are not the same but over hundreds of thousand generations small dissimilarity's add up. the more advantageous the difference the faster it becomes radically apparent. we developed more adaptable bodies that gave us the ability to have plenty of food and comfort in whatever climit we whent to alowing us to move away from competition for resources instead of having to defend them year round for fear of losing them, or having to worry about depleting them by over breeding by allowing us to take other species territory for longer and longer times, giving us plenty of food to develop bigger brains. apes specialized in surviving in their native environment securing their piece of that ecology but limiting them from ever having more.
