Study tip thread:
>Feeling low energy or just lethargic? Eat a piece of candy

All I got, I suck at studying

>> No.4049753

My studying tip? Pay attention in class.

Studying is for people who are bad learners.

Wouldn't recommend this by the way. Rather eat foods that are absorbed more slowly (low GI bread, nuts etc.)

Most of your work becomes self study eventually (although that varies from course to course and university to university)

Bananas are good slow-release energy stores.

Also OP
Don't stay up at night studying, study and get lots of sleep. It's way better.

Absolutely not! Simple carbohydrates may give one a sudden rush of energy, but beware! For soon any fellow who has recently indulged simple sugars will be doomed to see a resultant dip in energy following the surge. It's just like modern economics.

Vegetables, protein, and vitamins for sure. Folic acid and allied B complex vitamins are always essential. Maybe even adderall, if you're in a STEM major.

Let's all be kind to ourselves, gentlemen!

This, it's extremely important to get at least 6-8 hours (depending on you genes) of sleep if you want to retain the information you learned.

This.

You need to study and do assignments before it's due in class. Lecture is supposed to be the secondary event of gaining information, not the primary. The teacher is only supposed to clear up any hang-ups you've had on the subject. It'll save you plenty of time to play on the weekends if you go into a class expecting this.

>> No.4049788

>>4049780

Sorry. I meant to say you're supposed to study and do assignments before it's even assigned.

seeing/hearing/saying something all record it in different partsof the brain.

rewrite your notes in huge red crayon and read them aloud in the mirror (backwards)
record them in your own voice and play them back.
Get someone else to sit still while you tell them these things.
and so on.
All this makes duplicate copies of the data in various parts of the brain.

also, many short sessions are retained better than one long one. study in many short bursts.

Study groups are great, because it gives you a chance to explain things about the subject your studying to them. The act of teaching, for a rational thinker, will help you decipher on right and wrong thoughts you have about certain areas, partly because people are afraid of appearing wrong to other people.

Same with me. If I get 7-9 hours of sleep everyday for weeks my memory starts diminishing, I can't think coherently or logically, I can't study easily, I fall asleep when I'm not stimulated, etc. It is a pain.

I need ~10-12 hours of sleep to function optimally. Luckily people are mostly idiots and I still excel when malfunctioning. I sleep ~5 to 7 hours a day, most of the week, and I get dissociative episodes and the occasional delusion. I don't fall asleep too often, due to caffeine consumption. The only problem I have consists of turning in papers where my reasoning isn't always logical. Sometimes they don't notice and sometimes I get a bad grade - which I compensate by scoring perfectly at the test(s).

Why do I simply don't sleep 10 hours a day? Insomnia.
