The British / Australian O is better than exponents though, because it includes all other options in more complicated equations so I guess it is a little more flexible.

no they're not, people just misinterpret them. the division operator will only effect one entity, brackets count as one object. a*b count as 2.
all equations of form a/b*c will always equal (a/b)*c regardless of how many calculators you can find that'll do it wrong.
