I am far more concerned about maintaining a society that remains above the level currently occurring in Mexico, where they are busy decapitating each other over drugs like a bunch of Medieval thugs. Our civilization depends on consistent energy inputs.

Well, yes, but it's a much easier sell to say "China's going to get there first if we don't hurry!"

You have to remember most humans don't recognize the rest of humanity's existence as anything more than images on a screen, and our future as non-existent and unimportant as our past.
