>According to recent estimates, for instance, if the average energy consumption of the United States was generalized to the whole population of the world, known petroleum reserves would be exhausted in 19 days

If america a pop of 300mill uses 20,000 litres off fuel, then the world under the same percentages use 600,000 litres.
If it takes 19 days to run out that means there is a reserve of 11,400,000 litres of fuel
Which means America using 20,000 litres a day will take about 570 days to exhaust it.

Right? or being to simplistic in calculations? Using a random number i know thats not the actual fuel consumption of the US.

Where are you getting these figures and please explain why you disagree with them as well as what you believe the real answer to be? It sounds like it is including the oil used in power plants, by the military, and in other industries, not just the oil a citizen uses in their daily commute.

Maybe it's the countries oil consumption per capita.

>> No.4008375

It's an assumption, im using a randomly generated figure and applying the logic to it. if a pop off 300mil uses 20,000 litres of fuel then a pop of 9bil under the same trends will use 600,000 mil litres a day.

Not really though. America alone would drain the world of oil in 570 days.

You do not know that for certain

which is what im saying. i disagree with the green text. What i posted after is my calculation to prove it.

Still, the calculation sounds about right, the expected peak oil is in 2012.

OP here someone posted the greentext stating it as truth. I disagree, and i used a randomly generated number to prove it. We know that the worlds supply will last more than 2 years, This post claims that 7bil pop with the same fuel consumption trend as the US will exhaust the world of petroleum in 19 days. Using a random number of 20,000.

>300mil AKA the US uses 20,000 litres of fuel a day
>7bil / 300mil = 23.3
>23.3 * 20,000 = 600,000 (daily consumtion of the world)
>600,000 * 19 = 11,400,000 (the worlds overall supply)
>11,400,000 / 20,000 = 570 (so america continueing its trend is going to drain the world dry in 570 days anyway) we know this isnt true.

Am i right in saying this article is over blown bullshit?
