I think it is the same as discovering a few tribes in some rainforest in South America, and they kept human slaves from nearby tribes.

In terms of semantics - it is slavery if they are of the same species (e.g. ants enslaving other ants, humans enslaving other humans). It is animal husbandry/shepperdary if they are of different species (e.g. ants and aphids, humans and work-horses).

In terms of whether we should interveine - personally I'd argue not to. Of course it's a shame for the enslaved animals, but if the animals enslaving the others have no sense of self-awareness they cannot understand the concept of moral, it seems pointless to consider them in the same way we would consider a human being. We cannot judge their actions in the same way. In this manner, animals are different to humans, and we should let them evolve to self-awareness before we attempt to make them subject to our own views of right and wrong.
