I have a pinewood derby tomorrow in which we build and race a car in about 3 hours. Last year I won a dremel for this retarded car I made which was consisted of a rounded piece of wood with a 2 inch by 2 inch american flag sticking out of the top. It had so much drag that it couldn't even get to the bottom, which was a good thing because it was too tall to cross the finish line!

Does anyone have any ideas for ridiculous designs for pinewood derby cars? I need to win that last place trophy again this year. Bonus points if it looks cool or interesting.

You have to drill holes for the axle, right? Make the axle angled left or right. for bonus points, angle them in opposite tilted directions. You could even tilt it up and down so it only rests on two wheels.

Okay, drill in the axles at an angle, opposite angle on each side. Can you bend the axle or break it and reglue it, such that it's got a corner in the middle between the wheels?

Let that corner deviate just slightly longer than the wheels themselves, so it bumps the ground each time the wheels rotate

alternatively, shape the end of the axles into a ball/socket joint so that the wheels can twist a little bit on it, and on the front make the left wheel smaller than the right, angle the axle down to the left to compensate

again, the last car i made we carved into a hill, then took a 2 inch by 2 inch by 0.25 inch piece, and a little stick we cut and made a flag out of that. We sold the crowd by painting the flag with all 50 stars and 13 stripes and saluted every time it was racing. There was no way the judges COULDN'T give us a prize!!!
