Ignore the whole "computer" thing, it's bullshit
What the actually did is a hundred times more awesome.
They actually designed and made DNA that makes Proteins that trigger cell death under highly variable conditions.
It's everything that will be awesome about gene therapy.

Death is the solution to all problems, don't forget that.
Manipulating a cell to do what you want is a clusterfuck, a billion different metabolic pathways, highly delicate and complicated (and mainly poorly understood) regulatory systems are going to be your worst nightmare.
Now, murdering all the cells that don't do what you want them to do is ridiculously easy, and your body will mostly not mind at all.
