If we were to populate the moon with scientists or something what would we do about the fact that a day is a month long?

Maybe humans could learn to stay awake for 29,5 days and then hibernate for the same?

Use liquid fluoride thorium reactors for power to create an artificial 24h cycle, where overhead sun-spectrum lighting dims and brightens according to time of the artificial day.

Also, that's like asking what would happen if we populated Camp Century, Greenland with scientists during their summer and ask them what would they do about the fact that the day is 6 months long.

That is a good question: are humans circadian rythms able to ajust to over a 24 hours peridod?

Never looked it up. There are probably data from sleep deprivation experiments in closed habitats, but I don't know if the results would be the same on the moon.

Yes, I thought about presenting that people living above the polar circle have similar experience. But I thought that might hinder the discussion.

>> No.3988518

Make the base underground and have the scientists work on analysis during the night and observation of the stars during the day.

Yes, some humans can adjust to 32-hour daycycle, but it seems most stop at 28.

I'm one of the former, and living in Finland I had some trouble in the past during the lightest and darkest part of the year, when the 32-hour rhythm asserting itself.

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to build up,a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together
