You have to give credit to a basic need for self preservation. Burglars don't want to tangle with police or other citizens. So making a lot of noise to alert everyone, just isn't their game. They just don't know WHO is armed, and they sure as fuck know the POLICE are armed.

You're actually in greater danger from the suiciders who say "fuck it" and just start killing and car-jacking and taking hostages. Those guys are looking to end up shot dead by police, hence they don't care about subtlety.

>if you have a gun and you get robbed/mugged you're 3.5 times more likely to be killed.
critical thinking here, what type of people are most likely to carry guns while walking in the street?
>over 7 and a half thousand american children are hurt or killed by guns PURELY ACCIDENTALLY each year.
thats tragic but its a combination of poor parenting and poor gun safety. i dont have a child so i cant say how i would feel if i did, but i would certainly not leave a loaded gun lying around the house, i would carefully explain to my kids that if they ever try to touch or play with my guns i will beat the living fuck out of them, and i hope by the point at which my kids can figure out how to load a gun on their own they will have enough common sense not to play with it like a toy. fuck common sense, ill tell them how idiotic it is.

>*You could be disarmed by the intruder, and shot.
the chances of my home being invaded by an intruder with enough balls and fighting ability to disarm me and then shoot me are so infinitesimally small that to seriously consider that scenario is ludicrous.
>*A family member/friend could find the gun.
>*You could mistake a friend/family member for an intruder and kill them.
gun safety is not hard
a lot of people are fucking retards and do not know or care about gun safety
these people should not own guns
i am not one of these people
>*You could kill an intruder and end up in jail (if in UK).
in US
>*A shot fired at an intruder could ricochet.
wtf, ricochet directly back and hit me? no, just no

nothing wrong with a baseball bat its obviously nowhere near as effective as a gun for anything except hitting baseballs

actually in the uk if you kill an intruder you will be arrested automatically while they investigate, but if all you did was kill someone who broke in (in other words it's not a story to cover up an actual murder) then you'll be released without charge. you don't get put in prison for defending your home and killing someone in the process.

it's similar to what happens with firearms police; they're automatically suspended during an investigation to ensure that the killing was justified, then when the investigation is over they go back to work.

> me me me

this isn't about you, it's about advocating gun ownership for others
