I just want a free fucking graphing package /sci/
That will allow me to choose the x and y values of points I plot.
Why the fuck can I not find one?

Octave.

Graph?

Whilst I can see its use, I have no interest in something so complicated (or 3-D for that matter). I just need something that will freakin' allow me to plot points and so I can join a line between the damn points.

I love you so much

I am not touching that piece of shit with a ten foot barge pole.
At least 2003 allowed access to the graphs. 2011 is shit.

Why is excel a piece of shit? It's an incredibly useful program that has basic graphing capabilities (more than you probably need, if you don't know any programs that let you make graphs)

It's statistical functions are borked:
http://www.forecastingprinciples.com/files/McCullough.pdf
Or at least the version they tested failed spectacularly.

Though, if all you need is to plot stuff, then I guess it could do fine.

Excel isn't free.

Try getting the first column to be the x values and the second column to be the y values.
It's not even remotely fucking possible

All plotted on a line graph I mean

See

select the y values, plot graph, click edit data or something, press change x-axis, highlight x-values, done

Then just read up on the plot() command. Nobody forces you to do chi²-analysis.

Given such a response, the original post's picture is laughable. You have a nice thing. It's called "gnuplot." It is an excellent plotting program.

>> No.3935227

>>3935181
Nope, tried that earlier. You can change the data labels of the x axis, but then you have an inaccurate, unproportional graph. That is the extent.

This is what I meant in
>>3935121
I could set the x values so much easier.

too bad you don't have a mac op. it just works and comes with graphing software.

I swear I must be retarded. because I don't know what bit goes in where. I need an IKEA's guide to gnuplot installation.

WHY DIDN'T I KNOW THIS BEFORE

Thank you anon, now that I've spent an hour trying to graph statistics I can finally get the actual maths homework done.
