European Uni or American(USA and Canada) Uni?

>> No.3925513

European Uni = free
American Uni = expensive

They use the same fucking books.

lol British uni is far from free
For the cheapest of western europe I'd say Belgium, and they offer really decent quality too

Americans studying in Canada have to pay double what a Canadian does, but ironically this is still much less than what an American has to pay if they study in America. A number of Canadian universities are really high up in the world rankings, but if you tell some American you want to "University of British Columbia", they'll think its some shit little school because they've never heard of it.

Do not take those rankings seriously. Japan which is world leading in technology has no university in the top lists.

And the most important scientists/engineers in the USA have been educated elsewhere. From Einstein, Von Braun to modern day Asians.

Its got nothing to do with the books. Its got everything to do with how good the staff are and it definitely helps if the university and the lecturers are involved in research.

Good researcher are often bad teacher and vice versa.

It bothers me that USA has a shitty education system but 8 out of 10 of the best universities in the world are from there, it's an excuse to not change.

Do you enjoy burning money and could feasibly get into one of the top 20 schools?
America.
Do you want a good education without being forced into indentured servitude for eternity?
Any other industrialized country.

I doubt you'll find many universities without research going on. They certainly didn't become professors because they wanted to teach

No. Teachers who do only teaching are far more intersting, interested and efficient (ie : they can teach you more and better in less time).

I'd go with European Uni, honestly, unless the American University you're accepted to is particularly prestigious. (Ivy Leagues, MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, etc). However, if you get into Oxford or Cambridge, that's good too.

Most influential research comes from the US and Europe. I believe the most influential coming from the US.

Asians produce the most research, but it also happens to be less influential.

So I would say a good University in either the US or Europe, whichever is more convenient.

The Chinese are stealing things that Asians invented.

As I said before, Japan is high tech and leading in many fields such as robotics. Yet, their universities aren't even on the lists. Those ranking lists are BS.

Todai is 9th in the world and Tokyo Institute of Technology is somewhere in the top 100.

Depends where you're from OP, are you European thinking of moving to America? If so your home country is guaranteed to be cheaper. If not, then all I can tell you is that international fees at most English universities are around £9,000-£10,000 per year.

I assume because you are looking at universities on a global scale that your grades are incredible, if they're not then I advise against spending money to travel and live miles away from home just to attend a mediocre university.
