"Findings that showed faster-than-light travel were released to the public too soon" by Lawrence M. Krauss
http://www.physorg.com/news/2011-10-cern-colliding-theories.html

100 years of Einstein being true, CERN has a blip, has news conference on it and then herp di derp.

Fake or misleading science is usually a result of economic or political factors. Get the public interested in a controversial finding .. get funding.

CERN have clearly stated the reason why they released their anomalous finding.
Paraphrase -They do not believe it and they would like the scientific community to scrutinise their result to spot the flaw.
The reaction of the media is not their concern no should it be the concern of Lawrence M. Krauss. What he could do is look at the result and try to spot the error rather than whining about some nutjobs that have been e-mailing him.
