What does /sci/ think are overrated majors and careers?

1) Software engineering
2) Medicine

People enter these fields because they fail at more quantitative areas.

i used to think you need to be mensa to get into medicine

then i met someone going for medicine, and realised, its similar to fucking zoology.

as for software engineer, i have no experience to go by.

>Biochemistry

Because I'm in it. I'm amazed how, whenever I tell someone my major, they're all like "Oh WOW, that sounds tough!" It's not. It's memorization. Chemistry is tough, physics is tough. Biochemistry is meaningless acronyms and trivia with little theory. If biochemistry incorporated more evolutionary theory or actual chemistry (thermodynamics and organic), it would be more legitimate.

The science graduate asks "How does it work?"
The engineering graduate asks "How can we use it?"
The accounting graduate asks "How much does it cost?"
The liberal arts graduate asks "Do you want fries with that?"

In all honesty, how is medicine overrated?
You perhaps argue that it's pure memorization, but I fail to see how knowing every single known thing about human body is overrated.
