I have a friend, who rejects everything to do with science, he just sits at home, smokes his own home grown and he doesn't even have a telephone. Why are some people able to live outside the bounds of science and technology? Is this a good way to live, free of science and technology?

It can be less stressful.

I've always dreamed of smashing my computer to bits and living on a small patch of land farming and lazing in the sun, going skinnydipping with various women.

Thats the life bro.

I have some primitivist values. I was pretty determined to escape society when I entered college. Not so much now-a-days.

He sounds like he's happy, and he's not bothering anyone.

Would that all those who view science as a step in the wrong direction were so noble about it.
