/sci/, what do I have to do to fulfill my dream of walking on the moon?

I'm a brit if that makes any difference.

Hope that some revolutionary technology will decrease the price of space flight drastically.

Become gratuitously wealthy.

Make Hong Kong dependent on Opium. You'll be rich beyond your wildest dreams! Oh wait...

Even then, I'm hardly near the top of the list of people they'd send to the moon. What qualifications would I need and how would I go about collecting them?

Become a pilot in the airforce and also become a physicist.

1. Become the brilliant engineer that ever lived
2. Acquire billions of dollars
3. Build a space ship
4. Fly to the moon with your space ship
5. Walk the dinosaur on the Moon

I want to be part of the first expedition with NASA to Mars.
Wat do?

>> No.3868868

1. Become a Russian or Chinese citizen.
2. Be Physicist + Fighter pilot

No-one who posts on 4chan has the "right stuff". Sorry. Also, you need to be in peak physical condition, you'll need at least one, maybe two phds in relevant science and engineering fields, and you'll need to be an excellent pilot. It's pretty much the most sought-after job on Earth, unless you're the kind of person for whom everything comes easily, don't bother. Just save up your paychecks until commercial space travel is possible, which is most likely no more than 20 or 30 years away.

Kay, going to Russia, getting degrees in various fields to do with physics, becoming ace fighter pilot and hoping everything goes my way. How hard can it be? I'll give you guys a wave from the moon when I get there.

No need for fighter pilot thing. You can be an astronaut without it, as it is only required for the commander position. PhD in physics or math would be a huge benefit.

Personally, as I don't have access to a any sort of decent Uni, I'll most likely settle with MD, hopefully get into aerospace medicine grad school in USA and stay to work on research.
