So /sci/, i'm a guy prospectively looking at going to university for mathematics.

Is this a good/bad idea? What can i do with a mathematics degree? Is the salary/job outlook good?

One of the inventors of calculus always related.

The job outlook is rather good if you couple it with a minor in say CS or busniess. Another alternative is to focus on statistics which provides plenty of job opportunities.

Majoring in mathematics however isn't the most efficient way to a successful career. Engineering is probably a wiser career choice. But then, you'd have to 1) suck dick and 2) study tremendously boring shit.

Pure math major btw.

Other people will probably tell you this, but mathematics is a really nice supplementary major. It's good in addition to something else because it shows you're quantitatively capable. With just a math major, there aren't many job markets. If you managed to get an internship in some field, you'd probably do about as well as someone who majored in that field.
I double majored in math and computer science, and I'm now taking actuarial science/IS classes to try to be more marketable.
