how long does it take for human sentience/self-awareness to become active?

do newborns already have working thalamo-cortico-thalamic circuits, or do they cultivate several months into development out of the womb?

pic semi-related

we dont know.

>thalamo-cortico-thalamic

isn't that redundant or are you referring to some feedback loop?

Nope.
Human sentience/self-awareness is actually "analog", not "digitial". Some humans have more sentience/self-aweness then others, some simply never develop it (im looking at you christians).

yes, it takes time. a newborn is not self-aware. it takes approximetely 1 year.

>> No.3845068

Depends.
Conscience and self awareness that you have now usually happens at about 2-3 years after birth.

feedback loop supposedly responsible for sentience and overall conciousness.

this is oriented towards neuroscientific discussion, not psychology.

bump, any neurosciencefags have any reasonable explanations?

I think it takes time to get to develop what we call the first bases of human-type self-perception. Different brain areas develop at different speeds and different temperaments might lead to later or earlier formation of self-awareness.
