You are looking at a yellow car, as the car passes you you close your eyes; what is the colour of the yellow car?

>> No.3831168

Purplish maybe.

>> No.3831173

I don't know if this is what you were going for but isn't it impossible to imagine something you haven't seen, like a pink elephant?
Anyways, I've seen a yellow car before.

>> No.3831181

The car would still be yellow. Color is the wavelength of light that reflects off a surface. The wavelength isn't effected by my eyes being open or closed.

No, but how your eyes interpret it does. Usually when you look at an object of a bright color (or just something like a bright light in general) and suddenly shut your eyes or look away, it still remains in your vision as a sort of "haze" until it completely. If you want some proof or backing for this, stair straight at a light bulb for a few seconds then close your eyes while turning the other direction, and you'll still something remaining on the spot where the light touched your vision.

OH MY GOD IT'S ALL BLACK EVERYTHING IS BLACK

>Color is the wavelength of light that reflects off a surface.

Wrong. Colour is the way your eyes perceive the spectrum of said light. The number of dimensions of colour space is the same as the number of chromatic receptors in your eyes, which is why we are fine with three primary colours.

OP's question is still retarded.

>> No.3831209

at first i thought this was a silly philosophical question.

but i think it would be purplish.

these guys seem to have misinterpreted the OP

Ratinal burn has no effect on the colour of the actual object.

>> No.3831226

>>3831173
No. Your brain is fucking retarded if you can't imagine a pink elephant

>> No.3831227

>>3831222
Of course not, since it's on the eyes and not the object. Poor reading comprehension is poor.

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK.
EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Its the 10000th time i see a thread like this and i ALWAYS read 'car' as 'cat' because ALWAYS the pic is a cat.

I dont know whether this is intentional or not but it made me reply after generations of fuuuuu.

Cheers.

>> No.3831444

at what fraction of c is the car moving?

>> No.3831456

Yellow

everyone who says otherwise is a troll or very stupid

That's because it takes time for your receptors to 'reset'.

You can also 'see' light by pushing on your eyeball. In actuality, there is no light, the pressure is simply triggering photoreceptors.
