It's a primitive day in time. We're in some sort of jungle. It rains say every other day for a fair amount of time.

We've built our huts of material from the jungle but we face a threat. The animals. Elephants have killed us in our sleep, jaguars, etc..

We need to do something. We need to make it more challenging for these animals.

Do we try to build higher, maybe towers from the ground up or in the trees? Or do we try to go underground?

We could burrow into the ground deep enough under to where the dirt can hold itself steady. Solid. We'll reinforce it anyways. But what of the rain?

What do?

Well if the elephants have killed me in my sleep, I'd say I'll just go underground and rot for a few billion years.

Towers, obviously. Going underground doesn't help at all; the animals will still be able to get to us, and we aren't burrowers anyways.
We're climbers, so let's take advantage of our upwards mobility and build above ground.

Find loads of sturdy straight broken branches and fashion same size triangles out of tree bark. Make geodesic dome. Dig hole. Put geodesic dome in there, fill back up with dirt with a small trapdoor to get into it.

It's simple.

We kill the animals.

You've never touched a branch or dug a hole in your life, have you.

I once dug out a hole for an entire basement for a new house that was under construction. Killed my back for a week.

The house wasn't big, and it was a family friend who apparently couldn't afford to bring in a Bobcat but could afford $250 to pay a 14 year old little shit to dig out a large crude hole.

Build up.
Won't flood during rain and also gives altitude advantage during combat with Elephants.
Elephants? Don't they eat grass? Why would they attack sleeping humans?
On with the game:
We rise above the jungle and build in the trees. we go down only for water and stones to work with.

Bobcats are cheaper to rent than that.
