HEY ATHEISTS!

IF EVOLUTION IS TRUE, THEN WHY IS THE EARTH NOT COVERED ONLY WITH GREEN PLANTS PROTECTED BY BLUE SEGMENTS??

That's funny... I was just playing this.
Actually, the game always seems to end (for me) with a bunch of plants with gray segments. They instantly kill everything that touches them. In fact, the only way I can make the game entertaining at all is to set the probability of gray segments to zero.

>> No.3809550

They suck carbon dioxide out of the environment, which leads to a mass extinction after a while, if I remember correctly.

Shoot, I have yet to evolve a plant surrounded by blue segments.
Of course, I have a very low probability of blue, and both times it evolved were during the stationary red&green times.

This thread is now about the game Biogenesis.

I have created an ecosystem with blue shelled plants and mosquitos (which evolved from an earlier predator).

All is well.
It stays balanced, and the mosquitos survive by eating mongoloid children of the blue shells (survival of the fittest, bitch) and cannibalising each other.

... until someone evolves some gray segments. Then everything dies.

>> No.3809751

This game is a very early prototype of something that could be REALLY cool.

1) Fix the cyan segments motion... (most creatures end up banging their heads in the corner of the world)
2) Reduce the effectiveness of the gray segments
3) Get more creative with the different types of segments

It's open source, right? Maybe I'll submit some patches.

>> No.3809765

>>3809751

How about some form of sexual reproduction?

Say, the pink parts of 2 creatures touch, offspring is instantly formed from the one with the most energy, with features from both parents.

Instant reproduction would allow for huge population growth when resources are good, but be a big waste of energy when they aren't so good. Maybe throw a cooldown timer on it too.

Is this even possible?

>> No.3809775

The mosquitos did have grey bits, but they were mostly useless as the shells block them.

I think grey "shells" still took damage and were eventually worn down, so didn't have chance to reproduce.

>> No.3809843

>>3809765
Sure, why not?
I think the thing that would add the most to the game at this stage is better motion. The only motion is from cyan segments, and they only work half the time. The creatures should evolve "sensing" segments that orient them towards food, for example... and then "locomotive" segments that get them going in that direction, once oriented. It might also be nice if there were certain things that creatures avoided... like a sensing organ that steers a creature away from gray or red things.

>> No.3809938

>>3809843

A sensing organ would be great in both finding food and surviving. A bigger organ creates a bigger "seen" range?

Also, mosquitos are surviving still, in an environment where their only source of food is shelled creatures. >>3809775

They've evolved a smaller size, and a body shape that protects their cyan parts. I think they could now be classed as scavengers, living off dead bodies.

Amazing.

It really is a gorgeously made game. I spent about 6 hours today watching the default settings and listening to jazz metal, amazed at the way it changes in epochs.
