Call me a troll or stupid, because this is going to sound super simple to you guys, but I must ask because I've never really known.

Are grams/milliliters a measure of volume, mass, or weight?

Eg. a bowling ball weighs 16lbs or just over 7200g (volume approx to 589cm cubed).

A bunch of feathers equaling to 16lbs (7200g) would have a volume much larger than that of an equivalent bowling ball.

But then you have 1L = 1000mL, and liter is a measurement of volume. So you have 1L volume = 1000mL volume = 1000g weight. How come volume directly converts into weight? Why aren't things just measured in mol?

Wow, Bill Murray isn't looking too good.

>How come volume directly converts into weight?

Because glorious metric system.

You're stupid.

Grams are a measure of mass/weight; millilitres of volume.

Grams cannot convert into volume, nor litres into weight. If you understand the nonsense that is Imperial, you can understand this.

Because moles are inconvenient.

I refuse to believe that he is that old.

grams are weight, one gram is pretty much one cubic centimetre of water and 1000 grams are a kilogram.

mililitres are a measure of volume- one mililitre is one cubic centimetre, 1000 of them are a litre.

Water is magnetic. That should answer your question.

1g of water = 1ml of water
but that's just for water
grams = mass
Milliliters = volume
they are related by the density of the substance

>> No.3804472

grams = mass
milliliters = volume

the only substances where 1 gram = 1 ml is water, because the density i 1 g/ml

another conversion you might be thinking of i 1 ml = 1 cm^3 but 1g ≠ 1ml for all substances.
