Why do I love the smell of burning / ash / smoke at night?

Is this idiosyncratic or do other people enjoy it as well?

Or am I secretly a pyromaniac?

Same thing happens to me. I LOVE the smell of normal computer paper burning, but everyone else seems to despise it.

Maybe you had some good times at campfires, bonfires, or barbeque's as a kid. The way our brains associate sensory input with emotions isn't always logical.

Maybe because humans can be amongst other things, disgusting. Burning perhaps reminds you of nature or the natural processes of nature or chemical reactions.
