Any PhD/MD program would love to have an engineer on staff. This is particularly true if you have any applied experience that would help you develop experimental devices. Warning: it takes fucking forever to complete an MD/PhD, and you only get the MD paid for if you complete the PhD first (why I call it a PhD/MD) BUT! No debt! And if you get yourself involved in applied medical technology, you could easily be making more than 95% of specialists and surgeons.
