/sci/, I am planning to do an extra credit project for my university general psychology class. What I have in mind is a questionnaire-based study of whether a correlation exists between OCD, magical thinking and religiousity.

Anyone have advice for how to structure said questionnaire/study, or questions for it?

My current plan is to set it up as an anonymous questionnaire, with 4 or 5 questions planted with the others (likely 25 or so total, multiple choice) designed to detect a tendency for magical thinking, which will be the independent variable.

I could likely just outright ask about religious views in general.

It's not porn, because /sci/ is supposed to be SFW. This is just the few images I have saved specifically for posting something to grab attention on SFW boards.

remember that for surveys response *rate* is hugely important
don't just do it in the university, try it in places around town

Draw up a questionnaire which asks shit about OCD,
> do you suffer from obsessive compulsive tendencies?
> do you suffer from THIS obsessive compulsive tendency?
> how about THIS one?

Draw up similar questionnaires about whatever the fuck magical thinking is, and "religiousity" (??)

Then correlate the data.

Important thing is to make sure your surveys (or your three sections of the SAME survey) are weighted against one another properly.

This would probably be hard to do without some statistics knowledge.

There aren't many people with much experience in the social sciences on this board, so you'll be hard pressed to find someone here who can give you good advice on making a good questionnaire for a study or what the standards are for considering such a questionnaire study valid. However, given how colloquial speech has bastardized the use of the term "OCD" I would try to avoid making direct mention of it to avoid many completely baseless and false reports.
